The winery

A family winery
since the 16th century

Generations tied to the vine, our own winery with our own equipment, four estates and a recovered variety: Malvasia de Sitges.

— A story that endures —

Celler Can Pagès stands
surrounded by century-old vines

Vines that preserve the essence of our family winemaking tradition. The origins of Can Pagès date back to the late 19th century, when our ancestors began growing vines in this unique spot between Sitges and Sant Pere de Ribes.

— Living history —

From the family land
to Celler Can Pagès

  1. Late 16th c.

Can Jacas and the family origin

The Pagès family settles in Sant Pere de Ribes, at the Can Jacas farmhouse, beginning a relationship with the land that passes down from generation to generation.

  2. 1970s

    The estate and the house

The family acquires the estate along with the house, consolidating the space that is still an essential part of Can Pagès today.

  3. 1980s

    Our own winery

The family's own winemaking facility is created. A key step from being only grape growers to making wine with our own identity.

  4. 2004

    Recovering Malvasia de Sitges

Celler Can Pagès commits to recovering Malvasia de Sitges, a native variety of great historical value, difficult to grow and strongly linked to the Mediterranean.

  5. 2006

    First dry Malvasia

The house's first dry Malvasia is made: a fruity, fresh and singular white wine, born from a variety deeply tied to the land.

  6. 2015

    Celler Can Pagès is born

The family launches its own brand to give more visibility to the work carried out over decades at the winery, the estates and the farm shop.

— Celler Can Pagès

— The winery today —

Family tradition,
a contemporary outlook

Celler Can Pagès keeps a way of working tied to the land, proximity and quality. The winery does not stem from a trend: it stems from a real story, from vines worked over generations and from a family still bound to the territory.

Today the challenge is clear: to preserve that essence and communicate it better, bringing the wine, the farm shop and the experiences to new audiences.

— The daily work —

Wine, land and
local produce

Can Pagès brings together winery, fields and farm shop in a single project. Wine is an essential part, but so are the oil, the fruit, the seasonal vegetables and the local produce that are part of everyday life.

— The facilities —

Winemaking with
our own equipment

Since the 1980s we have made our wines in our own winery. We control the whole process —from harvest to bottling— with the necessary equipment in house, caring for every detail and keeping the character of each vintage.

— The terroir —

Soils that tell
a unique story

Our estates are spread across the Garraf hills and the Penedès plain. The limestone soils with clay and slate, together with the Mediterranean climate and the sea breeze, create unique conditions for our wines.

Four estates spread across different areas of Sant Pere de Ribes. Each one brings a singularity that shows in the diversity and quality of our wines.

Can Planas

The revival of Malvasia de Sitges

Can Planas

Can Planas holds a special place in the history of Celler Can Pagès: this is where the first Malvasia de Sitges vines were planted, a native variety that came close to disappearing and that we have carefully brought back. Its clay-loam soils and sun exposure create an ideal microclimate for the variety, giving wines with freshness, aromatic complexity and a perfect balance between sweetness and acidity.

La Masieta

The guardian of Montgròs

La Masieta

Set at the foot of the Montgròs hill, La Masieta is one of the winery's jewels. Its limestone and soldó soils lend a distinctive minerality to the grapes. The altitude and aspect allow a slow, even ripening, which translates into wines with vibrant acidity and great aromatic richness: a place where nature and viticulture come together to capture the essence of the terroir.

Les Torres

The first family property

Les Torres

The most historic of our estates and the first property the Pagès family acquired. Located in the Les Torres neighbourhood of Sant Pere de Ribes, it has witnessed generations of growers. Its mineral-rich soils and excellent sun exposure yield grapes ideal for our most structured reds. Here, respect for tradition blends with modern growing techniques.

A treasure waiting to be discovered

Can Girona

Though it is the least known, its contribution is essential. Located in a strategic spot, it has varied soils and a microclimate that favours growing several varieties. The diversity of its soil and its exposure to different air currents allow optimal ripening, and its wines stand out for their balance, elegance and surprising character.

What makes our
estates special

Soils

From limestone to clay loam: a mineral richness that shows in the aromatic profile and the structure of every wine.

Varying altitude allows a balanced ripening of the grapes, and with it a vibrant acidity and a unique aromatic complexity.

Aspect

The vines facing the sun ensure the grapes reach the optimal balance of sugar and acidity.

Climate

A Mediterranean climate: sun, sea breeze and mild temperatures. The ideal conditions for fresh wines full of character.

To know our estates is to understand the essence of Can Pagès

Every plot is tended with care, respecting the particularities of the terroir and drawing out its fullest expression in each bottle. It is that intimate connection with the land that lets us make authentic wines — wines that tell the story of our past, present and future.
